Hidden Orchestra – Antiphon

Somehow, I missed the memo about Hidden Orchestra when their debut LP “Night Walks” released last September but thanks to their imprint label Tru Thoughts, I got hipped via an email about one of their other artists.

While they were telling me to come to said other artist’s upcoming London show, they let it slip that Hidden Orchestra (formerly known as Joe Acheson Quartet) was giving away the mp3 for this track and being the audio hoarder that I am, I was quick to “Right Click, Save Target As“.

Super Smoky Soul – More feat Mushinah

If you’re not familiar with the aptly named Japanese trio Super Smoky Soul, here is your introduction! SSS lays down a beautiful backdrop that finds Muhsinah performing over a soundbed that we prefer over her newest stuff. The B Side finds one third of the group, Re:ill, remixing Guilty Simpson’s Knockout Kings (get the original), but the A Side wins on this one. Meemee Nelzy – Ola w te ye (Where were you?)

If you’re not familiar with French soulstress Meemee Nelzy, please check out her previous album and recent singles HERE. Her new album, Kréyòl Seasoning features West Indian beatmakers and will be released November 16th. From the album’s title, you can expect a liberal dose of creole vibes but I’m sure she keeps it soulful as witnessed on Ola w te ye. There is also a promised collab w/John Robinson!
