While most Pop aficionados will easily remember the album’s standouts “Crazy” and her superb cover of “32 Flavors”, it was track two from her Blame It On Me album that Hip-Hop became most familiar with in 1999.
I opened my Tru-Thughts newsletter, saw the name Roy Ayers and immediately jumped to this track! Let’s backtrack a little though, Ayers will appear on the

As one of my favorite tunes from Nasir’s debut album, I was skeptical when I saw this remix even though BLS alum Vanilla was on
It appears we should be looking North now for the good music. Canadian producer/writer and On Deck (download)alumni Xolisa’s mellow Until Then is an alluring jewel of quiet passion. ”Inspired by A Tribe Called Quests’ Oh My God (Remix), Zero 7?s Destiny and Camp Lo’s Coolie High,” Untl Then isn’t a transparent tribute, but a thoughful amalgamtion that deserves a listen. In addition to just sounding lovely, Until Then delivers a poignant message: “We’re in the right here and right now- so until a moment in this time, space or state of mind proves otherwise, let’s just be.” Grab the OG and remix HERE
The highly prolific duo known as ViceLounge continue to churn out tunes and remixes. This time they apply their attention to That Fall (Hit the Ground) from their recently released album Love Music (Download). They’re offering 4 takes on this track plus a bonus for just a dollar and if you drop $3, they’ll throw in Love Music. Win/Win right? Unsure, press play and get convinced to grab That Fall maxi single HERE
In 2005 DJ Jazzy Jeff released The Soul Mixtape which helped many listeners discover artists they may not have regularly been privy to. One such artist was Demien whose album Supernova Syndrome was released quietly via A Touch of Jazz the previous year. I’ve been on a heavy Devante Swing (Jodeci) kick lately and was reminded me of Erotic Dreams with it’s sexually charged lyrics, dope production, use of voicebox and heavy Prince influence. Just like Devante’s productions, this song has stood the test of time and still sounds good although it was recorded between ’97 or ’98.
LA and Chicago connect on this gem as TheImagination and ArinMaya collaborate to create a very beautiful gem I’ve had on repeat for the past
This Tuesday, Seattle’s Choklate will return with a new album after a 3 year absence. Fly features production from some of the best names in
