Multi-instrumentalist and composer Nick Rosen boasts an impressive resume: In his short career, he has already recorded, performed and/or toured with the likes of jazz luminaries, including legendary bassist and Rosen’s mentor, Henry Grimes, reedsman Bennie Maupin, and saxophonist Arthur Blythe, and also a variety of acclaimed artists such as Macy Gray, Esthero and Perry Farrell. At the age of 25, the Los Angeles native is ready to strike out on his own with his soul-bearing album Into the Sky, debuting July 20 on Porter Records.
On the album, Rosen offers up an array of musical instruments including guitar, Rhodes piano, upright and electric bass, and synths, as well as his vocals on three tracks. Contributing piano, violin, viola and upright bass to the album is performer, producer and arranger Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Ray Charles/John Cale/Flying Lotus).
He currently plays regularly with Build an Ark, The Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra and his own Nick Rosen Quartet
