Vacationer – Gone [Album]

Since last summer when we scooped you about lead single “Trip“, later when we tipped you about another gem “Gone” (check the video HERE too) and just a couple weeks ago when we placed “No Rules” in the Loose Joints, I’ve been anticipating this Downtown Records full length release so I could get more into their genre of music dubbed as “Nu-Hula“.

It’s been six days since the 03/20 release and I’ve listened to little else but this LP, especially the following three standouts below.

Everyone Knows

Good As New

Dreamlike

Don’t they just give off loads of sun drenched guitar, Beach Boy-esque melodies and just a touch of waking up on an outlying tropical island to a steamy cup of an incredible Kona? Plus they literally seem to make Kenny Vasoli‘s vocals beckon you towards your car, down the driveway, onto the highway and hastily making tracks for the nearest exit straight out of town for destination’s unknown.

Tracks like those and several others on the NYC-based four-piece band’s debut destine Vacationer‘s music to go hand in hand with spontaneous weekend getaways full of good times, good conversations, a few detours off the beaten path and an adult beverage or three thrown in for good measure.

Well, at least that’s my plan for an upcoming hiatus. Best believe I’ll have this LP on deck when it all goes down.
