By collecting 540 of the words that Funk & Wagnalls had forgotten all about and hurtling them into a upper stratosphere of rhyme that most players in the game would catch sunspot in their eyes trying to follow, she’s essentially crushed the whole mainframe, completely murking whatever rappity rapping rapper you’re currently listening to right now.
I’m not over embellishing that either. According to Grae, the song was inspired by her viewing of “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters” documentary about Steve Wiebe‘s passionate chase for the World Record high score in Donkey Kong but also to get a glimpse of the ever elusive, magical, mystical Kill Screen.
Within Jean’s track, she easily assumes the role of Ultima Guardian Supreme, skillfully reaching the upper echelon of rhyme levels that most Emcees would spend a small fortune in quarters attempting to outpace her flurries of Up-Down, Up-Down word combos, Left-Right, Left-Right double entendres and A, B, A, B, Select, Start like metaphors.
All my 80’s babies know where I just went with that.
