If you haven’t had the chance to listen to “Different Now” on the recently released Mello Music Group album, Helpless Dreamer, I feel sorry for your ears. DC native Oddisee pulls a sample from “Am I Losing You,” an old school hit by R&B vocal group, The Manhattans. Then, he loops it mystically with a steady drum-cymbal kick and finishes the cut with epic electro vibes. But that’s not all. He and his homeboy Toine jump on the ill beat candidly, telling of where they’ve been and how things seem different now. “We just wanted it to have a ‘day in the life’ kind of feel. Chat over breakfast, go digging & hit a few museums. I honestly do that all the time,” Oddisee says of the video (below).
