J-Live – Ya Momma So Black

Growing up in the South before our collective consciousness was heightened, I can recall a time when someone dispensing the ultimate insult, “You’re Black,” was a reason to fight. Today, Black & Brown culture is predominant globally and is no longer a cause for shame. Ya Momma So Black, the 4th single from How Much Is Water, acts doubly as an anthem for Pride in your Nation as well as shows love for the matriarchs that hold said Nation together. Powerful and much-needed, this jewel is one of many examples J-Live is in my list of Top Emcees.
