Gretchen Parlato – The Lost and Found

At the urging of several people I finally checked out Gretchen Parlato’s second album for ObliqSound, The Lost and Found. I read somewhere of a comparison to Cassandra Wilson, Gretchen is definitely talented, but she brings a NOW feel to her music that isn’t necessarily traditional. Some of that may be due to covers of Mary J Blige, Simply Red and Lauryn Hill on the album, but may also be due to her associate producer, Robert Glasper’s influence. A must for good music lovers…
