If you’re not familiar with Menagerie, and Kingdom is your first encounter with this Australian Jazz tour de force, you’re in for a treat. Led by producer, guitarist, songwriter Lance Ferguson (Cookin on 3 Burners,The Bamboos, Lanu) Menagerie has 12 years in the game at this point. The band has a new, fourth album, The Shores of Infinity, in the works and Kingdom is the harbinger for what is described as a futurist project, infusing their contemporary style of Jazz with hopeful, spiritual vibes. Citing Strata East, Black Jazz, & Tribe as influences they’ve placed the bar pretty high! Anchored by a phenomenal bass that puts me in the mood of African Rhythms (Oneness of JuJu, Dilla), Kingdom has me anticipating a wonderful release!
