I’d like to begin by giving props to Bilal from refusing to be pigeonholed into a certain sound. From 1st Born Second to present, the evolution in his overall style is enormous. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sa-Ra or Van Hunt was behind the production on this one. West Side Girl is a laissez faire number with a slight rock edge plus lyrics that remind me of early Prince.
