The second album from the Soul Over The Race series was recorded in Shimokitazawa, a hip enclave of Tokyo and features passionate Japanese Soul singers and musicians, with English lyrics. Theyve taken a collection of ’70s and ‘80s classics from guys like Gino Vannelli, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and the Five Stairsteps, and re-recorded those songs in their Tokyo studio. All the singers and musicians featured on the album are Japanese with the singers having some form of gospel vocals backgrounds. Definitely unique, Soul Over the Race offers great interpretations of some definitive soul classics.
