Dandy Teru – Adventures LP

Who is Dandy Teru? I am familiar with the label he is signed to, Ubiquity Records.  I am also aware that his homeland, France, has produced some fantastic producers via Onra, Nicky Lars, 20Syl and so on. Nevertheless, admittedly the name was a complete mystery to me when I first pressed play on his Adventures LP. However, it didn’t take more than a couple of minutes for me to realize that this guy has “it”.

Adventures takes us on a ride through the creative mind of Teru, and features the likes of Count Bass D, Moka Only, and Ty (amongst others) with remixes provided by Tall Black Guy, Monkey Robot, and Quiet Dawn.

Every track is absolutely stellar one way or another. The atmosphere is a fine balance between earthy, headnod inducing drums, and spacey keys and melodies. The album makes it clear that Teru has an amazing ability to arrange his tracks. In my eyes (or ears), the structure of each song is perfectly laid out, polished, work of sound, steeped in rhythm.

If I could sum up this entire album in 5 words or less. “Bangers from start to finish”. It is a rare thing to be able to produce a soul song that is mellow yet hits just as hard as a hip hop song. Teru’s ability to do this sets him apart from other artists and makes his Adventures LP an absolute necessity in everybody’s music collection. No be lie.

Who is Dandy Teru? The man who is dominating my playlist.

Adventures LP will release on Ubiquity Records on April 23.
