The Decoders ft. Alex Isley – “What You Gonna Do For Me”

Chaka Khan celebrated her 60th birthday on March 23rd, and what better way to share in the celebration!  The Decoders did a remake of this classic by the Queen of Funk-Soul with the equally beautiful and talented Alex Isley on lead vocals.  If your wheels are turning, the answer is YES!  She is the daughter of Ernie Isley of the legendary Isley Brothers.  However, the spotlight is on young Ms. Isley and the Decoders who remade this timeless classic into a beautiful blend of soul, funk, jazz, reggae/dancehall inspired instrumentation, sweet horn stabs and rhythm guitar strums.  Coupled with Alex’s silky smooth voice, who could resist sharing this cover?

So, if you’re asking the question; the answer is we already did it, now accept our invitation to listen, comment and share your thoughts and love of good music.
