I’ll have to chalk up not really being into reality shows as to why I wasn’t informed about Corpus Christi, TX native Latasha Lee until last week.
Having appeared as a contestant on the X-Factor aside, I’ve been enjoying Ms. Lee’s almost hodge-podge of vocal stylings since her arrival on my radar and rather than try and narrow down a few of her standout tracks, I thought it best to post up her YouTube playlist and allow you to check them all out.
Possessing a voice imbued with slight overtones of Etta James, smatterings of Lauryn Hill and just a smidgen of Amy Winehouse all while skittering around the fringes of the Motown sound is no simple feat in itself but Latasha pulls off each track I’ve heard thus far brilliantly, even managing to superbly belt out and re-vamp the Country music staple that is Tammy Wynette‘s “Stand By Your Man“.
