When this project landed in my inbox I hoped it would be something special, and not the saccharine sweet jazz remakes that feature a one man band manipulating synthesized instruments and lacking any soul whatsoever. Lamar Harris & The People’s Key’s The Shawn Carter Jazz Suite is not that – the 6 man band is really cooking, even helping me to enjoy Jay-Z songs I didn’t previously like.
