In the last couple of years, I’ve found that even though I eschew a great deal of mainstream recordings and radio fluff (if that makes me Music Snob, so be it), there are advantages to listening to something other than what hits my inbox.
For example, I’ve taken a shine to letting one of those satellite music stations on DirecTV play while I’m snoozing. For one, it’s pretty chill and will even calm my 1 yr old down long enough for her to actually take a decent nap and two, every so often an artist that somehow didn’t make a blip on my radar before, will end up getting a well deserved listen.
The other night while almost in sleep’s heady grasp, Lylit entered the playlist and I literally sat up in bed. Listen and you’ll hear why.
Not only am I diggin’ her vocals but the track itself has certain a Boom-Bap to it that my speakers seem to love as well. So I of course did some more diggin’ and found that “Change” was sneakily packaged as a bonus cut on the physical CD of Joe’s “Signature” (which I obviously didn’t listen to) by Kedar ENT. since they happen to share the same label.
Also while looking around the net for a way to obtain purchase her debut LP “Unexpected“, I came across another track, as well as her very well put together EPK.
I might just have to keep it tuned to that station 24/7 as the NFL is quickly becoming the “Replacement Ref” of my TV viewing.
