Thundercat – Them Changes

I have been a fan of Kendrick Lamar for a while now, and when I heard the title track on his latest opus “To Pimp A Butterfly”, I thought it was funkiest joint I had heard in a minute. Of course, I wanted to know who was responsible for bringing this funky new sound to Kendrick’s spectrum of sound, and that is when I found out about Thundercat. Apparently he has been making his brand of funk for a minute, and I feel almost cheated for not even knowing who he was before now. He is presently putting together a mini album, “The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam” and has released one of the tracks on his sound cloud. Savion Glover coined the phrase, “Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk” and Thundercat’s “Them Changes” does that by dripping with high hats and guitar riffs. I dare you to just to listen to the first 2 minutes and not get hooked.
