The Robert Glasper Experiment – Why Do We Try feat. Stokley Williams [Stream]

While the rest of the world at large was allowing the terrestrial radio to inundate them with the most accessible single(s) on Black Radio, my wandering ears kept bringing me back to this track.

Not to sound as if I’m standing behind the podium of the “Most Highly Blessed Musical Pulpit“, cause even I have to admit that the Musiq & Chrisette Michele track is quite loverly but my lasting impression of the LP was that it is supposed to be making a statement regarding the complacency of urban Radio and how since it has such sway over the ears of the public at large, it could and should expect more from artists than just an instantaneous hit song featuring someone uber popular for the split nanosecond.

Instead of just opting out for the song that generates the most spins an hour, play something with more. More…more…I guess substance for lack of a more definitive term.

I would think that the above track would fit the bill nicely. Don’t you agree?
