It’s no secret of my love for Hathaway’s Valdez in the Country. Originally written for Oakland’s Cold Blood, and covered by so many it could be considered a standard, I was still surprised when I heard Terrace remade this gem, and I knew I was in for a treat. I’m always interested to see how my generation interprets the classics and I really enjoy what he has done, slowing the track down and jazzing it up with some Grover-esque sax, as well as  some of today’s technology with the funky synths. This is the type of the track that will help bring Jazz back to the mainstream and remain relevant for the next generation. Enjoy as we prepare for his highly anticipated, 14 track album, Velvet Portraits. PreOrder HERE

Terrace Martin – Valdez Off Crenshaw

Is it just me or do the lamp posts and street signs look like automatic weapons?
