New Projects: ELQ

I think by now BLS followers are familiar with at least two of these awesome producer guys hailing from Pittsburgh, PA. (From left to right) BusCrates 16Bit Ensemble (Iman Williams, Fayth Hope, Velben, Tahir Jahi), Nice Rec, and Grand Ear a.k.a Geeman (Bobby Blunt, Sub Soul, 4Lux) come together to form a collective called ELQ. ELQ stands for East Liberty Quarters which is, according to their press kit, ” a shout-out to the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh where each member cultivated their sound.” Each producer comes with their own individual style and element to each track from their release which creates a mixture of Boogie, Funk, and Soul. I think that this is the great start of people getting back to the element of music that I love so much which is getting the people OFF the wall and ON the dance floor. The project is being released on Rotating Souls Records, so please get it when it drops and support dope independent music. The great thing about this project is that it’s going to be released on vinyl which creates a more organic sound in my opinion, but also you DJ’s and Selector’s get to spin this as much as you want without having to bite your tongue and play mp3’s all night! For Now, check out this track to get an idea of what to expect from ELQ soon.
