Everyone loves a good old fashioned Remix Competition and while I missed seeing this one take place, we can still take pleasure in the fruits of its labor after the fact.
Case in point, DJ Shadow released his “The Less You Know, The Better” LP last September and also hosted one of these to give fans a chance to be featured on the remix package, releasing soon on Island Records. While I can’t lay claim to listening to all 400 submitted versions of the track, I can say I’ve heard 30 or so including the winners, which really weren’t my flavor.
But this one is.
Pittsburgh producing fave Grand Ear turns in a smoothed out, snap heavy burner that easily rivals the piano laden groove in the original that I have played at least 10 times just while writing this. We won’t talk about the number of times before I actually started. Anything Yukimi‘s voice happens to be on is aces to me regardless but this remix just enhanced that dig factor.
