Late Pass #54: Peven Everett – The One I Want

I found an old internet radio show of mine and in turn unearthed this gem by Peven Everett. I’ve forgotten about SO much music it saddens me. Nevertheless, when this came on it made me yearn for the warmth that is sure to come and reminded me of when Peven was dropping CDs like No Limit back in the day, like one a week.
The One I Want was the first track on his My Brazil CD (2003) and found the usually souled out or housed up Peven in a bossa mode. This 5 track EP was described as a “session that has Peven singing gently and soulfully, with mostly just acoustic guitar and percussion to back him up. The sound is incredible – kind of a cross between Joao Gilberto and D’Angelo – with a mellow, laidback style that’s immediately infectious.” Enjoy and find this one if you can. I’m listening to mine now
