Jessie Ware – “What You Won’t do For Love” (cover)

Beautiful London singer-songwriter Jessie Ware teamed up with producer and singer Sampha as she covers Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love”.  Released in 1978 on T.K. Records this beautiful and timeless single was given new life by this British Duo.  Jessie’s airy voice is perfectly paired with a superbly with a stripped down and reconstructed track.  The refreshed bass line and keys, combined with well placed effects on the vocals and subtleties such as the ad libs which include harmonizing by both singers makes for a marvelous and dare I say unparalleled cover of Caldwell’s song.  This version brings a different expression of the hopelessness of being so much in love, a sentiment delivered well by Jessie Ware, who is touring and promoting her album released in 2012, entitled Devotion.  Sampha, known for his  live performances and collaborations with SBTRKT (pronounced Subtract), is an up and coming force to be reckoned with vocally and creatively.  Now we invite you to listen and share your thoughts…
