I just recently became aware that not only is Devil’s Pie one of my favorite tracks from Mr. Archer, its also the moniker DJ PHATRICK uses for his monthly soul parties that go down in Los Angeles, Brooklyn and until recently San Francisco.
I was immediately drawn to this particular mix because, like most frequent visitors of BLS, I’m an avid fan of not only ATCQ and De La Soul but of the entire artist collective, the movement they represented and the influence they all brought to a genre that’s still growing despite the naysayers of 30 + years ago.
From the looks of the tracklisting, there’s just no way a hardcore purveyor of 90’s Hip-Hop wouldn’t want this on the hard drive and easy reach of the play button, plus DJ Bonds‘ mixing technique seals the deal nicely as well.
