Denaun Porter – Stuff In My Backpack (Download)

After dropping the video for his track Hey back in December 2014, Denaun has now released his much anticipated EP Stuff In My Backpack. One of the original members of D12 and commonly known as Mr. Porter, Denaun has made a serious name for himself as a solo artist and producer. Backpack features appearances from some of the industry’s heavyweights when it comes to true school Hip Hop as Phonte, Royce Da 5’9”, and Pharoahe Monch. Not to mention Jamla’s first lady Rapsody who appears on, what I believe to be the strongest cut of the album, Told Y’all.  Denaun and Rap expound on how past doubts by others were the motivating factors that helped hoist them to the ranks of the talked about. This eight song EP flows well with it’s short feel good interludes intersecting the stronger more serious records like Heartbroken featuring Young Roc and Impayshunt which features the always candid Phonte. Both songs address the complex struggles that some men go through in trying to be perfect for the woman who wants that and then some. Overall this EP is a quick, quality listen that provides a nice alternative to the expected product that saturates the industry nowadays. It’s sure to have you checking for the full length project from Mr. Porter, but for now pick up Stuff In My Backpack available now via iTunes.
