Two years after the release of Still, we get Conya’s a newest album, Blu Transition on September 28th.  All in You has more of an R&B feel than what Im used to from Conya, but Im digging it. This song has her, I dare say sounding like MJB. Chime in BamaSoulLovers, what are your thoughts?

This is the first single from Amiri’s forthcoming album The Recipe, which is dropping 09.28.10 on HiPNOTT Records. 

“Amiri drops “Boom Bap” as a digital 12? single, stepping out from behind the boards to refute those who doubted his mic skills and tell us who Amiri is, while mentioning the situation with A Tribe Called Quest and that him and Spectac are still cool… he just had to ride solo on this one.”

This digital 12? single includes the album version, radio edit and instrumental of “Boom Bap” as well as a non album B-Side “I Don’t”.

Although “B-Boy Beef” is the final single from Slakah the Beatchild’s Soul Movement Vol. 1, fans won’t have to wait long for new music from the multi-talented Performing Producer.  September 2010 will see the release of Something Forever, a 7-track EP on BBE Music. Also forthcoming is The Other Side of Tomorrow, a full-length album from The Slakadeliqs, an alter-ego of Beatchild. Vastly different from his previous hip-hop and soul focused work, The Other Side of Tomorrow showcases Slakah the Beatchild’s range and musical diversity, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists including Neil Young, The Guess Who, Andre 3000, The Beatles and Lenny Kravitz. Although it has no home label as yet, The Other Side of Tomorrow featuring Justin Nozuka, Swedish Grammy nominated artist Tingsek, Juno nominated artists Ebrahim,  Shad, and more is due to be released in early 2011.

Tahir Jahi is always staying creative and find new ways, musically or otherwise, to shed light. Here is a new remix of his song “Da Sunshine” that was produced by BusCrates 16-Bit Ensemble. Both Tahir and BusCrates are natives of Pittsburgh, PA. Just let’s you know, Pittsburgh is more than just sports and pubs!

Quamin & Sunceer is new to me, so I am getting a first taste and I definitely please as to what I hear. “We Got That” is  produced by Grand Ear (Geeman), another Pittsburgh, PA producer making noise. The song is also from The SoulBowl Sessions Vol. 2 which you can actually upload at Bobby Blunt‘s site. I am familiar with Bobby Blunt who released Petey’s SoapBox in April. I’m really excited about this one, I’ve been dying to hear some new Eric Lau music ever since his New Territories album, and by the sound of this he hasn’t missed a beat (so to speak). I can’t wait for this to drop.

I know that this joint came out a while ago, but I couldn’t help but post about it. I was one of those people who SLEPT on Slakah the Beatchild until recently. Luckily, I’ve brought with me a great excuse, girls. Anyways, this album has been a great substitute for food, which is why I’m still alive and typing.

Soul Movement Vol. 1 became a staple of my musical diet once I heard “Enjoy Ya Self”. My mind was thoroughly blown away and I was caught in a perpetual head nod, which almost led to my neck snapping. Regardless, the album as a whole is just filled with great sounds, dope beats, and Slakah’s ‘smoov’ vocals. It’s an impressive work of art, 20 tracks deep, and all the tracks are great, which is surprising in 21st century music since usually you find at least one or two tracks you like. Soul Movement definitely is worth it, and if anyone reading this is like me, then check it out and cop it.

Including over a dozen previously unreleased songs from some of today’s most engaging producers such as Machinedrum, Swede:art, Robot Koch, Jay Scarlett, Simbad, fLako, Comfort Fit and more, ‘The Heart’ also features special vocal appearances from Georgia Anne Muldrow with her original song for Mos Def’s latest album, Questlove’s sister Donn T, Quadron singer Coco, soul queen Jimetta Rose, Blaktroniks and more. 18 declarations of life, love and lust compiled by TDR founder Marc Wallowy.
