BINKBEATS only released his first Youtube video back in March, an astounding live rendition of The Healer by Madlib/Erykah Badu which already has a very healthy 55,000 hits and positive comments such as “Somebody sign this dude!” and “He’d do well on Ninja”.
BINKBEATS’ videos are immediately captivating. He can sing, seems to have a talent for recording and production, and he’s an enviable multi-instrumentalist with what seems like a never-ending supply of instruments. This is definitely an up and coming artist worth watching.
There’s very little information on him in the ether of the net so I fired him a quick message asking for an interview. The response from his manager is that “Until we have his record finished, we feel like it’s of little use to be in the media”. While this does mean we can’t learn more about him, this does tell us is that he is already working on a record, which makes me very excited.
It seems like we’re only going to be treated to covers at the moment, which is no bad thing as he seems to have impeccable taste featuring artists such as Flying Lotus, Lapalux and Amon Tobin. On his Facebook page he recently requested song suggestions for his next cover and says he’s now chosen a song to get working on.
