In just a few short days physical copies of Common’s newest long player will be available to the public en masse. If you have been keeping up with the pending release like we have, then you know we’ve been highlighting his discography all month long in various forms.

That said, there is no way we could bring you all the Common we could get our cursors on without acknowledging the driving force behind his rhyme scheme, namely the music. It takes stellar production to keep an Emcee on his toes and save for a few less than top notch tracks over the years, Lonnie Lynn has been blessed by a great deal of the industry’s best.

In regards to the new album, NO I.D., clearly one of the production games brightest sparks, has crafted an elegant backdrop this time around for the Windy City native to expound upon. Just imagine the countless hours of sample hunting and ear hustling it took to cobble all those forgotten audios together and construct what some heads are already deeming a strong contender for the coveted AOTY nod.

The process to finding these gems was fraught with auditory pitfalls and we’re pretty sure we’re missing a few (we will update the set if so) but we assure you no eardrums were permanently harmed in the repeated listening of the tracks, though a big toe was sprained in a frantic late night, half asleep Google/YouTube search.

Regardless of the challenges we faced obtaining them, the spoils go to you.

Before we forget, S/O to our crate digging friends that came to our aid on such short notice with their time and ears.
