DJ Rahdu – Follow Me: D’angelo Flips, Remixes and Tributes

I was speaking with a DJ and friend who said, “Dangelo should have released his album immediately after his BET appearance in 2012 in order for it to be successful.” I’m unsure if it’s the optimist in me or the pursuit of nostalgia but after much thought I was inclined to disagree. The brother has made music that still feels good and we’re still discussing 18 years later plus with the distinguished, discerning members in his camp and the pressure I’m sure he’s facing, I can’t imagine him releasing a bomb. However, many things have changed since Brown Sugar was released, and disposable income for music isn’t the priority it once was for his target audience. Critical vs commercial success aside, the brother has a following that will support him and his next musical offering barring it sounds like complete and utter trash.

In addition, much like his musical heroes, D’angelo has influenced so many, and it’s these fanatics that will mine Mr.Archer’s release for any musical nuggets of note and spread his gospel. It’s also these musically gifted fans that have remixed, flipped and covered his previous offerings to add their interpretation to his musical dialogue. Enjoy Follow Me, our tribute to the fans that have been inspired by and hopefully inspire D’angelo and encourage him to release the next album we’ll be enjoying even 18 years later. Enjoy this and grab the full mix 10/28/13

BamaLoveSoul Presents Ladies First Vol. 4 (Download)

If you’ve been following along for the past few months, you’ll already know what this is about and how it will change your outlook for the week.

If you’re not familiar, get into the past three offerings of this series and then come back to this one, as the artists it features are from a wider spectrum this time around due to extensive scouring of the Innanet for lesser known artistic ladies with a unique sound. All that extra work should make this volume the most diverse set we’ve put together so far if not the smoothest as well.

Hit play to judge for yourself, then grab the download and tell us what you think in the comments.
