As much as her new LP was lauded by critics and fans, it lacked a certain something I was looking for. Something elemental in the nucleus of what Jill’s sound has come to represent to me over the years. Something that Hidden Beach gave me with their “From The Vault Vol 1.” LP of some of Jill’s archived work.
I’ve been vibing this LP in lieu of the other since it dropped, so Jill’s old label releasing visuals (even if it is just some still shots slowly slideshowing while the song plays) was a bonus for me today as this is my fave track from the project.
There’s just something about Jilly from Philly channeling Cee-Lo Green circa 2002 and that serious bassline that get me every time.
