After digging in my Drum+Bass crates, I decided to go for some lighter fare and went digging in my wife’s stash. I remember when this 2003 album hit and I had the pleasure of opening for him at a concert here in Bham. He completely ripped it and subsequetly fell off the scene, but not before releasing some dancehall reggaeton comeback song that failed horribly. Nevertheless, he had some really great tunes on his self titled album and this The Underdogs produced gem is one of them. Enjoy

Javier – Beautiful U R

I ? Javier! He is a talented songwriter, brilliant performer, and amazing vocalist. His first album certainly had its gems (such as this song and the incredible “October Sky”), but his second album also had several fantastic tracks (“The Answer is Yes” should’ve been a huge hit, as should have “Lovin’ U”); however, Capitol Records simply did not know how to market him properly. He’s still writing, recording, and touring, and even recently released a new EP of material (as Javier Colon) called The Truth (Acoustic). If you enjoyed his stuff in the past, it’s definitely worth checking out. I’m a total longtime fan. :)
Yeah, Javier Colon is dope. Have also heard him feature on a few jazz tracks: If I remember correctly he has a pretty nice duet with Vanessa Williams on one of her recent albums.
Why did the underdogs break up?
Always liked this cat…..when I spun this song it always got a nice response…
I got this album when it first dropped! LOL
